The MAGIC-RR consortium held its second project meeting on 6–7 October 2025 in Budapest, Hungary, kindly hosted by the HUN-REN Centre for Energy Research.
Over two days, project partners reviewed progress across all major research areas and discussed next steps to advance the understanding and management of materials ageing in Europe’s research reactors.

Reviewing progress and planning ahead
The meeting provided an opportunity for detailed discussions within each work package:
- WP1 – Irradiation damage of research reactor materials at high fluences
- WP2 – Validation of miniature specimens for surveillance testing
- WP3 – Ageing management and structural integrity
- WP4 – Communication, dissemination, education and training
- WP5 – Project management
Partners shared recent experimental and modelling results, identified synergies among work packages, and coordinated upcoming activities. The discussions reinforced the project’s shared goal of improving the safe, long-term operation of ageing research reactors through advanced scientific understanding and collaboration.

Strengthening partnerships
A consortium dinner offered a valuable opportunity for informal exchange and networking, further strengthening cooperation among the 11 project partners.
