On 4-5 November, the consortium of the Magic-RR project—a four-year Euratom initiative dedicated to extending the safe operational life of Europe’s Research Reactors (RRs)— gathered in Amsterdam for an inspiring kick-off meeting.
A total of 11 partners from across the world came together to map out the project’s ambitious goals and establish a strong foundation for advancing critical infrastructure in Europe and around the world.
Magic-RR is dedicated to understand material degradation andcorrosion in aluminium alloys, develop better models to predict materialbehaviour, test and validate sub-size specimen technology for reactor surveillance, share knowledge and best practices within the RR community, and improve ageing management to support their continued safe operation. With these objectives, the project is poised to make a lasting impact on sustaining nuclear research, medical isotope production, and advanced education across the world.
A big thank you to everyone who joined us in Amsterdam and online for a successful start to this exciting journey!
